Dr. William Smith
Short Biography:
Dr. William J. Smith is Programme Director of UCD Racing. He has been the driving force behind the enterprise since he established it in 2000. Presently a college lecturer based within the department of Mechanical Engineering, University College Dublin, Dr. smith lectures undergraduate courses in Thermodynamics, Power Generation and Turbomachinery. He is also a senior member of the Energy Conversion research Centre based in the department.
Research Interests:
- Experimental and theoretical analysis of gas flow, heat transfer, fuel injection, combustion and pollutant formation in internal combustion engines
- Applications of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics
- Energy, environment, and climate
